Handwriting

Handwriting should be easy.  There are two series that I particularly like that do just that.  Here they are.

This is the first grade book from Handwriting without Tears.  They have books for pre-K and kindergarten as well, but I tend to prefer starting here in conjunction with our spelling and phonics curricula.  Some children are ready to read before they're ready to write in my experience, so I don't push handwriting before about 1st or even 2nd grade, depending on the child.

This is a lovely alternative to the print followed by cursive route.  Instead, they offer a consistent, simple and elegant italic print that is intended to replace cursive.  My only complaint is that when we used this, my children had trouble reading Grandma's cursive letters, so we eventually switched to Handwriting without Tears.  I really am a fan of both programs, though.

This is the 2nd grade book for Handwriting without Tears.

This is a nice, simple, easy cursive script with a cute little rabbit and various devices to make it easy to learn.  It could be used by a 2nd grader as well.  It's true to its name.
